My Stance

Each year thousands of bills are introduced. I will support those which promote:

  • Clean water through regional cooperation;
  • Empowering parents to ensure quality schooling for their children;
  • Fairness to state employees;
  • More freedom, Less government;
  • Prolife protection for mothers and children;
  • Protection for your property from condemnation abuse.
  • Stopping illegal immigration;
  • Traffic solutions;
I will continue to fight wasteful spending, including hundreds of millions of dollars in subsidies to out-of-state corporations. State government’s 19% increase in spending over two years (2006-2008) is not sustainable.

The 2007 General Assembly failed to address the State Marriage Amendment - signed by a majority of House members. In 2008 we must decide whether North Carolina will allow polygamy and same-sex marriage? The issue will inevitably arise as people move here from Massachusetts.

The Senate failed to address permanent protection of property from condemnation abuse. I had 95 sponsors join my bill for a constitutional amendment to establish this protection. It passed the House 101-15. My goal for 2008 is that the Senate will take up and pass this common-sense proposal and let the people vote on it.
